High School Grad Honored for Live Saving Actions

Mary Kate Phillips, a recent St. Charles North High School grad, received the Citizen’s Lifesaving Award from Mayor Raymond Rogina Aug. 17 for performing CPR on her 8-year-old neighbor, Brooke, who was choking.

Mary Kate’s parents, as well as Brooke’s parents and representatives of the Fire Department attended the award presentation outside the St. Charles Municipal Building.

Mary Kate credits a high school physical education program for the CPR training. Rob Rooney, the teacher who leads the program, also was in attendance.
